Maria Sandström is chasing truth in every project. She searches for humanity in the vulnerable and unperfected, which makes her filmes varm and relatable. Her background as an art director at MTV and Dallas-Sthlm taught her to move effortlessly between worlds – bold or subtle, stylised or stripped down.
On set, she creates a space that hums with warmth and curiosity. It’s open, playful, alive and where ideas bounce back and forth. There’s no pretension, no big talk – just people working together, chasing something real. Her films breathe that same air. Honest, human, a little raw. Because that’s where the real beauty lives.
Outside of film, she’s a contemporary artist who paints monkeys – a reminder not to take life, or herself, too seriously.
Some of her most recent clients include Schär, Min Stora Dag, Happy Socks and Kahlúa.
